Alison Johnson Receives Idaho Women Lawyers 2017 Innovator Award

Congratulations to Holland & Hart Boise partner Alison Johnson for being selected as the 2017 recipient of the Idaho Women Lawyers, Inc. (IWL) Innovator Award. This award honors women or entities who have promoted creative change in the legal community in Idaho.

IWL was formed in 1986 and currently has over 200 diverse and dynamic members throughout the state of Idaho. The organization creates and supports a variety of projects and events that align with its mission to advance diversity through the promotion of equal rights and opportunities for women in the legal profession.

Johnson was honored with this award for her “innovative contributions to the Boise legal community.” The IWL cited Alison’s role in co-founding the Idaho Technology Council’s Capital Connect Conference and her involvement with the development of the annual Idaho Deal Flow Report, which is the first report of its kind to consolidate data for private placement and M&A activity across the state in an effort to raise the profile of emerging Idaho companies, as ”breaking new pathways in the law and for reminding us that the law can afford many creative solutions when great lawyers simply think outside the box.” Clients and colleagues commented, “Alison is extremely knowledgeable in her specialized field of work and provides high-caliber legal advice to her clients...[h]er understanding of the inner workings of Silicon Valley and what is required to get funding for a start-up is invaluable to this community.”

In her practice, Johnson counsels start-ups and established companies on a broad range of corporate and securities transactions – from daily operational concerns to complex transactional matters. Johnson frequently speaks and writes on topics that impact emerging companies, such as equity compensation, what to look for in a prospective investor, and how to better understand venture capital jargon. She also partners with a number of local organizations, non-profits, government officials, and policymakers on initiatives that support emerging companies and industries in Idaho.

Johnson will be honored at IWL’s Celebrating Women in the Law: Raising the Bar Gala on March 8. The Gala is held biennially and recognizes five honorees for their achievements in Idaho’s legal community.
