Scott Scherer Recognized for Pro Bono Service by Legal Aid Center Southern Nevada

Holland & Hart is proud to announce that Partner Scott Scherer received the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s (LACSN’s) Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month recognition for November 2017. Scherer was recognized for his contributions of going “above and beyond as far as taking cases and assisting the pro bono project with case placements” for the center. The award was presented at the Civil Judges Meeting held on November 22.

Scott Scherer, a partner in the firm’s gaming industry group, has been involved with the Gaming Law Section of the State Bar of Nevada for many years. Working with the Gaming Law Section, Scherer helped develop a program to provide pro bono representation for gaming employees who lose their right to work in the gaming industry. The Section arranges for representation by experienced gaming attorneys in appealing objections to gaming employee registrations. LACSN’s Pro Bono Project coordinates private attorneys who generously volunteer to provide free legal assistance to individuals who cannot afford an attorney.

Scherer regularly handles a number of pro bono cases each year, ranging from appealing objections to gaming employee registrations, to helping military personnel with a variety of legal issues. He also serves as a liaison with LACSN on behalf of the Gaming Law Section, matching clients with attorneys who have the necessary expertise on matters he is unable to handle himself.
