Degreed Closes Financing Transaction to Accelerate International Expansion and Strengthen Capabilities

Holland & Hart represented Degreed, an innovative company that offers a lifelong learning platform that individuals and organizations use to discover learning content, build skills, and certify their expertise, in connection with a round of financing which closed in June 2019. Through this financing, Degreed raised $75 million in equity and debt.

Degreed plans to use the latest round of investment capital to accelerate its international expansion, including building out client service teams in Europe and Asia, to enhance skills measurement and insight features, and significantly strengthen its integration, data science, and client enablement capabilities. The investment included $35 million in equity funding from existing investors Owl Ventures, Jump Capital, Signal Peak Ventures, and GSV Accelerate, along with new investor AllianceBernstein. Degreed also closed a $40 million venture debt facility with AllianceBernstein.

“Marc and the Holland & Hart team have been instrumental to our success. They’ve been by our side as trusted advisors since the beginning,” said Chris McCarthy, Degreed CEO. “Marc and his team are much more than lawyers. They believe in our mission and have helped us position the company for success.”

Holland & Hart’s venture capital and private equity team advised Degreed on the transaction, led by Marc Porter, and included assistance from Ken Logsdon, Lauren Prew, and Kristy Strohm.
