DENVER—Holland & Hart LLP is pleased to announce that Mary Peltola and Anton McParland have joined the firm's Federal Affairs team. Mary, who most recently served as Alaska's At-Large Congressional Representative, joins as Senior Director of Alaska Affairs, based in Anchorage. Anton, who served as Representative Peltola's Chief of Staff, joins as Senior Director of Federal Affairs, based in the firm's Washington, DC and Anchorage offices.
Mary excels at bringing together unlikely allies to achieve transformative results for Alaska projects and meet clients’ business goals. A member of an Alaskan tribe, she draws on her distinctive culture and experiences in federal, state, and tribal governance to help clients navigate complex regulatory and policy challenges. She leverages a collaborative approach and strong relationships within federal agencies, Congress, Alaska state government, and Native communities to advance client objectives and build lasting alliances among diverse stakeholders. For ten years, Mary served as a State Representative in the Alaska Legislature. She was appointed Executive Director of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, a role she held for five years.
Anton helps clients develop and execute strategic approaches to complex political and policy challenges at federal and state levels, with a particular focus on issues affecting Alaska’s economic development. He guides energy and natural resource companies through legislative processes, regulatory hurdles, and challenging political landscapes to achieve their business objectives. He also brings expertise developing and executing advocacy campaigns using innovative grassroots strategies backed by stellar fundraising capabilities. Anton previously served as Policy Co-Chair Chief for the Blue Dog Coalition & PAC and has more than 15 years of experience as a political campaign strategist.
"Mary and Anton are great additions to our growing bipartisan team," said Andrew Wheeler, Partner and Head of the firm's Federal Affairs team. "They each bring experience working behind the scenes to cultivate stakeholder relationships and build coalitions among parties with shared interests to achieve approvals and outcomes."
"Mary and Anton are high-caliber influencers and government affairs professionals, and I'm looking forward to working with both of them on strategies for Alaska clients," said Jon Katchen, Administrative Partner of the Anchorage office. "Mary brings a unique understanding of Alaska's distinct economic drivers and cultural landscapes that will benefit our local and regional clients. Anton has a deep understanding of congressional dynamics and an ability to craft and negotiate workable solutions based on legislators’ political and policy priorities."
"I am excited to join Holland & Hart," shared Mary. "I am thrilled to work on opportunities for clients that also help drive Alaska's economy. My extensive experience bridging federal, state, and tribal interests positions us to create lasting solutions that benefit all stakeholders and all of Alaska."
"This new role allows me to continue serving Alaska's interests while leveraging Holland & Hart's national platform," said Anton. "Having one foot in the nation's capital and one foot in Anchorage allows me to help clients effectively maneuver in both political ecosystems while elevating the Alaska model of collaboration and bipartisanship in DC."
