Holland & Hart Named to Bloomberg Law's 4th Annual DEI Framework

Holland & Hart is proud to be named to Bloomberg Law’s fourth annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Framework, an industry-leading program to recognize law firms’ commitment to DEI through a rigorous, quantitative, and transparent methodology.

Holland & Hart is one of 57 US-based law firms recognized for its level of disclosure of diversity-related metrics and distinguished performance against six pillar areas: leadership and talent pipeline, business strategy and innovation, recruitment and retention, firm demographics, disclosure, and lastly, diversity and inclusion in the community plus marketing. More information about the 2024 Bloomberg Law DEI Framework, the methodology, and a full list of members, is available at https://aboutblaw.com/beIM.

Phyllis Wan, Holland & Hart’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, noted, “This is the firm’s first year participating in the survey and it has yielded instructive results. The industry demographics and the firm’s scores confirm that our equity and inclusion initiatives are making a qualitative difference both inside and outside the firm.”

In announcing the results, Bloomberg Law President Joseph Breda commented, “It has been a challenging year in the DEI space, and the continued growth of this program indicates that the legal industry has not been deterred or lost focus on improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in law firms. The Bloomberg Law team takes great pride in providing a framework against which firms can benchmark their efforts.”

Submissions to the Bloomberg Law DEI Framework increased by 15%, the third year in a row of double-digit growth, providing an even more robust view of diversity in the legal industry. In the four years since Bloomberg Law launched the DEI Framework, the data shows incremental but important changes in law firm demographics:

  • Overall, 44% of firms have a succession plan in place that specifically emphasizes greater inclusion of diverse / minority attorneys;
  • Nearly all firms (95%) reported having a public statement regarding their commitment to diversity and inclusion; and
  • 65% of firms mandate and monitor that minority and women attorneys have equal access to clients, quality work assignments, committee appointments, marketing efforts and firm events, down slightly from 72% last year and matching 2022.

This year’s DEI Framework included new questions on accessibility. The report finds that 80% of firms allow employees to access basic accessibility aids like ergonomic office equipment and screen reading software without requesting an accommodation.
