Holland & Hart represented Colorado State University (CSU), in the negotiation of a long-term operation and maintenance services agreement for an innovative wastewater heat recovery system at Denver’s new National Western Center. As the building owner, CSU played a key role in facilitating the redevelopment of Denver’s National Western Stock Show complex into the National Western Center.
The revamped National Western Center will be home to a new, year-round public campus for an agriculture education and arts center, as well as the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo. The collaborative development effort prioritizes a sustainable, low-carbon campus with energy-efficient buildings. The million+ square feet of indoor space will source nearly 90 percent of its heating and cooling from a recycled source of thermal energy—a sewer pipeline that runs below the site. Once complete, it will be the largest sewer-heat recovery system in North America.
The Holland & Hart transactional team was led by corporate partner Ashley Wald, with assistance from Sean Hanlon and others.
