Holland & Hart Welcomes Barry Conaty and Sheila Jones to its Washington D.C. Office
WASHINGTON D.C. (August 25, 2008) - Holland & Hart is pleased to announce that Barry Conaty and Sheila Jones have joined the firm's D.C. office as partners in the natural resources practice.
Conaty has extensive experience with environmental site investigations and remediation programs implemented under federal and state “brownfields,” “voluntary cleanup” and other human and ecological risk-based cleanup programs, particularly in matters involving project development transactions.
Conaty’s practice focuses on counseling private-sector and governmental clients on complex matters arising under federal and state environmental laws including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (“CERCLA”), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and corresponding state programs.
Jones has twenty-five years of experience as lead counsel representing clients, including state and local governments, corporations and other business entities, Indian Nations and a university in connection with site remediation issues, project development and siting issues and environmental compliance issues. She also has represented the United States in her capacity as an Assistant Chief for the Environmental Enforcement Section of the Land & Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and as a trial attorney in the Environmental Enforcement Section of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Her practice focuses on federal environmental statues and their state analogues, including the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, the Endangered Species Act, the CERCLA, the Clean Water Act, the RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Deepwater Port Act and the Toxic Substances Control Act.
Conaty earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School with high honors and his B.A. from Yale University, cum laude. Jones received a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A., with highest honors, from the University of Maryland at College Park.
