Jon Katchen Appointed to Alaska Federal Judiciary Council

Holland & Hart is pleased to announce that Jon Katchen, a partner in the firm’s Anchorage office, has been appointed to the inaugural, nine-member Alaska Federal Judiciary Council by US Senator Dan Sullivan. The council has been convened to improve federal judicial selections by making recommendations for nominations to Alaska’s open federal judiciary seats.

This inclusive council is based on the model of Alaska’s state judicial council, which seeks input from a broad, diverse cross-section of Alaskan professionals to recommend candidates for state judicial vacancies. Sen. Sullivan’s appointed members have detailed knowledge of many critical facets of Alaska, including crime victims, law enforcement, resource development, and Alaska Native communities, and the numerous federal laws that uniquely impact Alaska, according to a press release from Sen. Sullivan’s office.

Jon leverages extensive state government experience and sophisticated knowledge of Alaska's resource and economic development opportunities to help energy industry clients achieve their business goals. His practice focuses on natural resources project development, defense of governmental and citizen enforcement actions, and complex commercial litigation. He also counsels investors and resource development companies regarding economic development opportunities in Alaska. Before joining Holland & Hart, Jon served in strategic roles for the State of Alaska, including Special Assistant at the Alaska Department of Natural Resources and Assistant Attorney General in the Oil, Gas, and Mining Section of the Alaska Attorney General’s Office.

More information can be read in Sen. Sullivan’s press release.
