Construction clients frequently call upon Lars for sound counsel during complex disputes. His practice encompasses construction, commercial, and bankruptcy litigation.
As a construction litigator, Lars has represented owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other construction and design professionals. He has represented clients in jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Lars has litigated construction claims related to design defect, errors and omission, delay, disruption, inefficiency, acceleration, wrongful termination, cardinal change, constructive change, wrongful termination, constructional defect, prompt payment issues, and mechanic's lien claims. He has also represented clients in bid protest proceedings, State Contractors Board licensure disputes, and code compliance issues. In addition to litigation, he has assisted contractors and design professionals to prepare and negotiate contracts for services as well as assisted owners in preparing contract documents.
Lars has represented Creditors, U.S. Panel Trustees, and Debtors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings in commercial and large individual matters. His representation of secured and unsecured creditors includes defending client claims, the recovery of assets, negotiating client interests for prepackaged plans, and protecting client interests in adversary proceedings, as well as participating in plan formation to maximize the value and timing of plan payments to clients. As a panel attorney for U.S. Bankruptcy Panel Trustees, Lars has investigated bankruptcy filings, located hidden and underreported assets, and litigated adversary proceedings to recover assets for various estates. As debtor's counsel, he has prosecuted adversary proceedings, litigated claim objections, assisted in preparing plans of reorganization, and participated in plan confirmation hearings.
As a commercial litigator, Lars has represented clients in real estate disputes, business tort actions, contract disputes, commercial paper matters, and insurance coverage claims.
In addition to his legal practice, Lars is an Adjunct Professor at the UNLV Law School teaching a course on construction law.
