Lucy Stark Named a 2025 TerraLex Trailblazer

Holland & Hart is thrilled to announce that Managing Partner Lucy Stark was named a 2025 TerraLex Trailblazer. In celebration of Women’s History Month, and spearheaded by the TerraLex Women's Committee, TerraLex Trailblazers are individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference. Trailblazers share a relentless pursuit of excellence and a willingness to support and uplift others, embodying the spirit of TerraLex.

Lucy stands as a trailblazer in law firm leadership and the energy industry, breaking barriers, and creating pathways for others. As Holland & Hart's Managing Partner since 2020, she exemplifies visionary leadership while maintaining a thriving practice that has redefined energy industry legal services. Lucy became one of the first and most knowledgeable legal practitioners in the western United States to comprehensively understand the Master Limited Partnership (MLP) practice. She developed this expertise to meet the needs of Holland & Hart’s energy company clients. Her mastery of SEC regulations, securities law, and energy industry requirements made her a "go-to" advisor for energy companies seeking sophisticated financing solutions. Lucy worked on some of the most significant debt and capital raising transactions for oil and gas companies involving assets throughout the United States.

Lucy’s steadfast commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession is exemplified through her work. Lucy founded and served as the first leader of Holland & Hart’s Women’s Forum Steering Committee in 2011, a networking and resource group for women lawyers which also has a critical advisory role researching, designing, and writing policies that intersect with women’s issues. Lucy has been a staunch supporter of other women lawyers in their professional development and career journeys, as a valued supervisor, mentor, and partner integration ‘buddy.’ She collaborates closely with the firm’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and other firm leaders to ensure the implementation, monitoring, and refinement of DEI policies, initiatives, action items, and community partnerships that support the firm’s strategic DEI priorities. Lucy is an active member of the Board of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.

Lucy was appointed Corporate Practice Group Leader in 2019 and later that year was appointed Managing Partner, officially assuming the role just two months before the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. In this role, she took on monumental operational decisions that transformed how the firm worked and served its clients throughout the pandemic. While overseeing an almost overnight successful transition to remote work for almost 1,000 people, Lucy shouldered the weight of tough decisions while maintaining an unwavering commitment to the firm's people during one of the most challenging periods in the firm's history.

Lucy’s dedication to excellence in serving her clients has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including recognition by Chambers USA in both Corporate and M&A since 2009 and in Energy and Natural Resources since 2019. She has been recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” in Denver by The Best Lawyers in America® for Corporate Compliance Law (2022 and 2024); Leveraged Buyouts and Private Equity Law (2023); Corporate Law (2023); and Energy Law (2025).
