Matthew defends individuals and organizations in state and federal government investigations and in complex civil and criminal litigation.
As an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) prosecuting federal cases involving drugs and human trafficking, money laundering, and financial fraud, Matthew discovered a passion for unraveling the complexities of multifaceted investigations. He leverages that experience to help companies and individuals build proactive defense strategies to navigate the intricacies of business litigation and the legal labyrinth and emotional turmoil involved in being the target of an internal or government investigation.
Matthew’s wide range of experience includes managing complex cases involving purported violations of ITAR, RICO, money laundering, fraud, and environmental statutes, as well as investigations into banks and financial institutions.
Through his role as AUSA for the Department of Justice in New Mexico, he has established excellent working relationships with professionals in a multitude of state and federal agencies. Clients also benefit from Matthew’s in-depth knowledge of New Mexico courts and processes based on his experience serving as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Michael E. Vigil on the New Mexico Court of Appeals and New Mexico Supreme Court. Matthew participated in the firm’s Summer Clerk program.
